    Hi All
A seller on ebay has listed a MCC 29129 , stating he was K.I.A. This medal belongs to st.panc Konstanty Dec. service number 1912/109/III.

The only person I can find with this name listed on the Polish War Graves web site is listed as born 1921.

So probably not the same person, ?

Can anyone throw any light on this ??

    Kevin

    Hello Kevin,

Certainly this is the same soldier. The numbers on the date of birth are simply rearranged. According to various sources correctly seems to be 1912 - born 1912-03-11 (according to another source born 1912-10-15) in Mikicin, father's name Józef, mother's name Emilia. KIA in Loreto on July 17, 1944.

An eyewitness testified: "... I met Konstanty Dec in captivity in Russia in Starobielsk. Then we went together to General Sikorski's Army and through Persia, Africa, we fought on the Italian front in the 2nd Polish Corps. He served in the 4th Tank Regiment and I served in the supply unit. One day, when we were standing near Ancona, Konstanty Dec died during the offensive on this city (...) We buried him at the Polish cemetery in Loreto..."
