Dear Andrzej, As ever... thank you. Very complete and thorough work... can I just confirm:
    46258 - 42659 - Polowie Laboatorium Amunio - should that be 42669?

Pretty much done now. I'll put this all together and put it up in the morning. Thank you again.

    Best regards, Mark

Another face to Monte Cassino Cross. This one comes courtesy of Kuba3DSK whose great-grandfather served with my grandfather in 5 (Polish) Casualty Clearing Station.

    Monte Cassino cross

    Lance Corporal (St.szer.) Wisnicki, Pawel 1902/113/III MCC#41755

Wiśnicki Paweł son of Tomasz POW in 1939 imprisoned by the NKVD in SevZhelDorLag [Northern Railway Corrective Labour Camp] in Komi before being sent to Juża Prison Camp. After the amnesty, he joined the Polish army in Tatiszczewo, September 1941. Apparently he returned to Poland after the war.

5 (Polish) Casualty Clearing Station was, as far as I have been able to establish, stationed here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r0y370v0njyem08/5CCS.kmz

This is a KMZ file that will open in GoogleEarth. It has the location and known dates of stay. The ones in the USSR and Iran you can ignore as they are specific to MY grandfather. 5 CCS starts from Kirkuk in 1943.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/55oouf9p3...L0dM5HdV-mBoha are the Polish Institute/Sikorski Museum photographs of 5CCS taken in 1946.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oysmy2uwo...iDGF6THYAQWsga are my family photographs of 5CCS

Final point; whereas in Polish the name of the facility changes in 1945 to become a Szpital Polowy [Field Hospital], in English it did not change until it arrived in the UK where it became 5 (Polish) General Hospital – in Italy it remained a Casualty Clearing Station.

    Best regards, Mark Ostrowski

Does anyone out there know where to get a replica SBSK badge for framing while were trying to get the real thing?

Once again thanks to eveyone for all there help

Here's a graphic I made back in 2005 for another forum. It shows why the hill the Abbey stood on was considered important. It's a Google earth view.

We are now on 5 pages landscape... but I think it is less cluttered like that. Nearly finished!!!
