    Hey everyone! New to the boards, but I was recently Google searching my great grandfather, Jozef Dziurgot, and I stumbled across his photo posted here. I just wanted to share my his picture and also a picture of his Monte Cassino cross.

    The Recipients details are as follows:

    Rank: Kanonier (Artilleryman)

    Surname: GRUDOWSKI

    Christian Name: ALEKSANDER

    Fathers Name: Tomasz

    Date of Birth: 1914

    Army Number (also found on his ID Tags): 1914-151-III

    Unit: 4PAL

    Aleksander Gudowski it would seem that he was a pre war soldier as he was intered in Lithuania on the 19th September 1939, he was then sent to Smolensk on the 16th July 1940 from where he was sent to Murmansk where he arrived on the 31st May 1941.

    After the German invasion he was released and joined the Anders Army at Tatiszczewo on the 4th September 1941.

    After the end of the war he came to the UK where he met and married Kathleen J Wright in Gloucester in 1950, in 1952 he was granted British Citizenship (Reference: London Gazette Issue Dated 15th September 1952, Page 4354.

    Aleksander died in 1997, his death was registered in Denbigh North, Clwyd, Wales.

    That is all that I could find, I hope that it is of some use to you and fingers crossed if you bid for it.

    With regards to your request for information on the Recipient of the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered: 2643 the details are as follows:

    Rank: St.Saper

    Surname: BIALECKI

    Christian Name: LEON

    Date of Birth: 1916

    Army Number (also found on his ID Tags): 1916-162-III

    Unit: Saperow 3 Dywizji Strzelcow Karpackich (3rd Carpathian Rifle Division, Engineers Battalion)

    At the end of the War he had risen to the Rank of Kapral (Corporal), he decided not to go back to Poland but instead came to the UK where in 1973 he applied for and was granted British Citizenship: (London Gazette Dated 16th November 1973, Issue 46179, Page 459).

    At the time he was living at Nr: 65 Newtown, Thetford, Norfolk.

    That was all that I could find and my Bill is in the Post.
