Further to my previous posts on the monte cassino cross. I recently had the pleasure of meeting some monte cassino veterans at a Polish combatants association and Sapers club. They were visibly upset that the brave deeds of the Polish at monte cassino are not generally available as a list of monte cassino cross recipients. They said that very few are still alive and they could not believe that the only way of noting their feats was to pay the PISM £25 and wait 6 months or contact Warrelics and ask Andrzejku for a favour. Who is this Andrzejku and why should he have this information personally they asked. So much information is available for all, even The Katyn dead. They felt that they and their comrades have been forgotten. It was sad to witness.
Nothing strange I think. All this information was collected, processed, analized by specialists. And their job should be paid. Why we should get it for free? If to speak about the Katyn - the belorussian list is still not available.

The answer to your question has been previously touched upon, the PISM holds the Copyright to the Monte Cassino Cross List.
Back in 1991 when visiting the PISM and talking with Dr Andrzej Suchcitz, Archivist of the PISM, I broached the subject of the Monte Cassino Cross List. He replied that the Polish Government in Exile before handing back to the New Government in Warsaw all the trappings of state etc, the PISM was presented with an original copy of the Recipients List. Because of War time paper quality this was in a very delicate state, I offered to copy the register for the PISM, my offer was taken up gladly.
During spare time I copied the list using a BBC Computer (this was even before Microsoft and Apple) and provided the PISM with printed new copies, then in 2013 I worked on transfering the list both Numerically and Alphabetically onto disc and sent it to the PISM in early 2014.
You are aware that the PISM is a registered Charity and as such relies on contributions for its upkeep.
They do intend to Publish the Recipients list at some point in the near future, I will keep everyone informed and once I am told of a publication date will let the forum members know.
I sincerely hope that this answers your question Boguslaw and can assure you that the Monte Cassino Veterans are not forgotten, personally I have over 35 Groups of medals from veterans of the Battle. If you check my previous posts you will see that I have photographed each cross that I have in my collection.
It is an honour to meet and speak with veterans of the battle even though the youngest will be now 89 years of age, I have also met and spoken with a few veterans including General Dyw. Klemens Rudnicki back in the 1980's.

The fact remains that at present to obtain a recipients details you have to pay £25 and wait 6 months for a reply from PISM or book an appointment to view the archives which also takes 6 months.
Otherwise you have to contact you through Warrelics and rely on your good nature. Surely this is not ethical. Surely a list of recipients cannot be copyright. it belongs to the soldiers.
What happens if you are no longer able or willing to share the information.
First we were told no list existed and now a that copy is held by a private individual. Again highly questionable.

I would like to know why you think it is highly questionable, I would also ask how long you have been interested in the MCC.
The first person to write about there being no list was Professor Wesolowski in Florida in the 1980's when his work on Polish Orders, Medals Badges and Insignia was published.
The first work published stating that the Chancery of the Polish Government in Exile was the only authority that could confirm the names and details of recipients of the MCC was "Polonia Restituta" published in 1989.
Where did you glean your information from Boguslaw.

Which information do you mean. The notion that the list is to be published soon is a statement which is voiced every so often over many years is a complete smoke screen.
You do not address my point about why you personally should have a copy , which is questionable.
My interest in Monte Cassino started in 1960, listening to my family recollections. I was in fact born in Italy close to the battlefields.

Andrzej has explained in his previous post why he has a copy. In my opinion it is no ones business why he has a copy. As he said he had to work for it.
Now you Boguslaw come out of nowhere and start throwing accusations. I think that maybe your intentions and motives are questionable.
You want a list go to London and copy it yourself and pay for the copies. What do you need the list for ????

What accusations.? I do not particularly want a list but I do think it should be available to all as is the list of Polish armed forces lost in WW2

Not ethical and highly questionable are accusations. You have used these terms in your previous posts.
Why not happy ? well it is at least your second attempt to "somehow get Andrzej to give out this list. And yes a list should be available, I agree.
But PISM relies on donations and sales of books. The Paratrooper lists were published years ago and these did cost money to get.
And not all the lists of Polish Armed Forces lost in WW2 are available.
