Hello Jared, and welcome to the forum.

I’ve moved your post from the pre-WW2 over to the Polish Armed Forces in the West section.

Great group of items, thanks for sharing them with us. The following link contains information on researching Polish exiled armed forces service personnel:

    Hello Jared,

May I also welcome you to the Forum, I have been able to find a small amount of information on the 2 soldiers the information is as follows:

    1) KAZIMIERZ SIWICKI

When awarded the Monte Cassino Cassino Cross His details were as follows:

    Rank: Szeregowy (Private)

    Surname: SIWICKI

    Christian Name: KAZIMIERZ

Date of Birth: 9th November 1922

Army Number: (also found on His ID Tags) : 1922-200-III

Unit: SOE Nr.3 Sanitarny Osrodek Ewakuacyjny Nr.3 (3rd Casualty Clearing Station)

    MCC 41593

After the end of the war Kazimierz came to the UK and settled down in 1956 however he decided to emigrate to the USA, where he died on the 24th December 1971 in Malcomb, Michigan,

    2) FRANCISZEK SIWICKI

When awarded the Monte Cassino Cross His details were as follows:

    Rank: STRZELEC (Rifleman)

    Surname: SIWICKI

    Christian Name: FRANCISZEK

    Date of Birth: 1927

Army Number: (also found on His ID Tags) : 1927-7-III

Unit: 18 BS (18 Rifle Battalion, 5th Kresowa Infantry Division)

    MCC 19849

Unfortunately I could not glean any further information on Franciszek from the internet.

I hope that the above helps you and answers some of your questions

    Best wishes

Here are two of the documents I spoke of, Polish is not my best language. Many of the documents with this group can be guessed at but there are a few that are well beyond my scope. I have about eight that I cant figure out here are two of them. Thank You JaredNeed information on two Polish SoldiersNeed information on two Polish Soldiers

    Hello Jared,

The 2nd Document refers to the award of the Cross of Valour to Kazimierz Siwicki Polish Resttlement Corps Number: 30082387, which gives his date of birth as 12th September 1922.

I suppose even Ancestry.com can get it wrong sometimes.

    Best wishes

    Hi again Jared,

The first document is a graduation certificate from an Army Training Centre. I can’t quite determine from the document exactly where this particular one was located, although based on the date likely somewhere in the middle / near east.

The typewritten document is an interesting one, a personal request from Kazimierz Sawicki to the “Headquarters – Office of Decorations – London” for an award document formally acknowledging his award of the Cross of Valour.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards,
    Tony
