Hello gentlemen, I have bought a few items this week-end and I would like very much if some of the more knowlwedgeable members could comment on these.

    First, a 1st Armoured Regiment 2 parts badge. 42mm X 42mm.

    Here is no. 26

There have been a number of the Polish War Correspondent brass badges recently offered for sale but were advertised as replicas... so these might be replicas?

    Hi Jo,

Sorry that the wait is not bringing you any good news. As far as the badge and cloth insignia, neither of these three items are genuine. The 1st Armoured Regiment badge and its variants has been covered on the exile forces badge thread elsewhere on this forum. The volunteers patch is a ‘Pakistani type’ – one of a bunch of copies that supposedly originated in this nation. The 1st Armoured Division ‘wiewiorka’ is of modern machine production that has been trimmed to give it a look of authenticity.

    Regards,
    Tony

Well...........thank you very much Tony.My friend who bought these last week-end won't really be happy since the individual who sold these items swore that they were originals............"buyer beware" and I'm partly responsible for him buying those.
    Again, thank you.
    Cheers

    Hi again Jo,

The seller misrepresented these items and your friend is entitled to a refund. Hopefully the money can be recovered.

    Best wishes,
    Tony

Fat chance Tony, these were bought at a show held in Toronto, from one unknown individual, behind a table, who probably won't show up again for a couple of years.
    Cheers

That’s a shame. This is one of the pitfalls of spotting items of interest at swap meets. There’s not always an opportunity for research to authenticate the pieces leading one into temptation to take a gamble. When it comes to Polish militaria gambles rarely pay off.
