    Default Polish Commando Chronicles

Whilst reading through the Chronicles of the Polish 2nd Motorised Commando Battalion.

I came across this poem written in the Battalion Chronicles whilst it was stationed at Watton.

Can you hear that Pole in his Army Boots,
Coming down the street in his Khaki Suit,
With his bright green tie and his bright green hat,
Did you ever see an English Boy dressed like that?
Can you see that Pole who's standing there?
With his eyes so blue and his curly hair,
Be at Watton bus stop at quarter past ten,
Every time I go to Watton to meet my boy,
I'm sure my heart does jump with joy,
He's standing there so neat and slick,
    Diabooshy Mackochane, Kiss me quick,
The Hull folk think we are sad,
Because we love a Polish lad,
But if they knew what they'd gone through,
Then they'd love the Polish Soldiers too,
Every time we go to Watton,
The English boy's they are forgotten.

There was no name to give any indication of who wrote this.

My grandad was one of those Poish soldiers. They went through so much, so sad. Beautiful poem!
