Polish Hat eagle Real?

Im considering purchasing this badge, and I was wondering if its real as I am new to polish badges.

Hello, yes, this is a genuine hat eagle, although I have my suspicions that these might actually be re-strikes from original dies. All of these minty non-issued ones that I see cropping up on the market, some with paper packets, do not have the standard hemispherical ended threaded post that are typically found on period worn eagles found in veterans groupings. The hemispherical post end is a classic characteristic of period Lorioli badges. I am adding the images you linked to this thread as a permanent record. Regards, Tony
