Polish Hat Eagles

Article about: In my opinion this particular cap eagle was made by G.J. Garratt Toronto. Very unique, hard to find.

excuse my ignorance , do these constitute the eagles in question
It's difficult to discern from your photos if these are gold finished. The Zawistowski reference pictures the 10th Hussars cast and stamped types, both having the twin lug style fastening. Incidentally, that eagle on the upper left is an unusual variant that is very seldom seen.

it would appear that all the eagles are brass through and through with no obvious evidence of " gold finish ". off down to the local car accessory shop for a tin of 1968 Ford Escort Venetian Gold go fast spray paint !

    Hi Gary,

That particular hat belongs to a museum in Chicago, and the band appears to be a light blue, used in the armoured corps. The rogatywka pictured in post #521 is mine. Both are products of the James Lock & Co. Hatters, London.

    Cheers,
    Tony
one for Tony here. I have been struggling to determine the different colours used for rogatywka bands, ie: arm of service, in particular exile versions. has there been a publication covering this subject ?

Hi PZ - Here's the pertinent excerpt from the Ministry of Military Affairs regulations published in 1941. Hope you can read Polish.

hello Tony, this is a bit like going back 40 odd years fathoming out Wehrmacht waffenfarbe. Mountain troops, Panzergrenadiers. Light green, grass green, apple green, green, dark green ! the only one I can't decipher, pasowa/pasowy. red is czerwony, so what shade is applied to Zandarmerie ? the main reason for my query was your comment about light blue band on rogatwyka used in the armoured corps ?
