Polish Hat Eagles

Article about: In my opinion this particular cap eagle was made by G.J. Garratt Toronto. Very unique, hard to find.

Thanks for posting the Polish Navy Eagle.
I am adding to the subject by posting this picture below (some time ago listed on ebay) – it is an interesting one – as it features the Eagle without the blue paint on the shield.
I am not sure why there is no blue paint – I have seen this feature 2 times over years – not sure as to the logic – perhaps the production mistake.

On the subject of the Polish Navy Eagle (a)

This one has just been sold on ebay

I have serious issues with / doubt regarding this Eagle – please enlarge the picture – looks like some sort of cast – texture of the surface is unusual and the anchor definitely does not match the “stamped anchor” typically seen.

On the other hand – I am struggling what the ‘business case” for the counterfeiting such Eagle would be – clearly – market is small so volume sold likely to be small too.

    Perhaps unusual version, therefore?

    Thoughts?

I have just acquired this one - an interesting variant - 40mm casted in Mid-East and without the "Small Pilsudski's Legions Shield".

We have discussed the 40mm Eagles with and without the Shield - I like them - as, at that time, somebody most likely (I think) had concluded that the removal of the Shield was a political statement to demonstrate a disapproval of Pilsudski's - pre 39 movement (Sanacja) and the support for the Sikorski's governing party.

Again for the record - from the same seller – a mini „collection” of PAF Eagles
To me, the most interesting is the Nr 59.
Having seen it in Zawistowski’s book - I have tried to research this particular pattern / variant by looking for pictures in various PAF related books (by J. Cynk etc) and searching the displays at Sikorski’s – but no success re dating this variant.
Perhaps any of You has the complete Eagle / and – or good quality pictures.

I am excited to report on the fruits of the collective labour with Tony over the weekend.

It looks like we have managed to “classify / identify / research further “another version of the Polish WW2 Eagle.
I thinks it is an interesting find as it relates to the casted / Mid-East made version where the quality of finish often reduces / excludes possibility to make comparisons and / or judgements.

Please see below – both avers and revers (especially revers – with quite visible marks).

The source – Zawistowski’s book features the Eagle as the main part of the rare / one-off Badge(s) of Cadets’ School of Polish Army in Mid-East (page 99 / pic 200).

In addition to the “one off” Badge - there was a “standard Badge” (seen relatively often) – with the small Eagle (however, different shape)

I am suspecting that Eagle may have been used independently - by other formations too.

There are a number of good books on Cadets’s Schools with good pictures - so I need to look it up to see what period of the existence of Cadets’ Schools , the Eagle / Badge may related to.

Not a typical post - but, I think worth adding.

A few pics from my recent trip to see the sites of the Monte Casino Battle in Italy.

The main altar of Cemetery, features 2 Eagles - with a very interesting design - based on the general Land / Army one - but with distinctive features too.

Also - I have decided to step away from the main tourists' tracks and have done walks over the Polish Positions with the map from 1946 (positions are now covered by the dense forests, but still visible) - I have to say the experience was incredible - as, although difficult to find, the artefacts of the battle are still there (amongst others, I have come across the skeleton of a mule / donkey)

I have been trying locate a specimen and find out more about this Pattern for some time - unfortunately - unsuccessfully to date (except some general info in Zawistowski's book).

I am keen to see pictures featuring it being applied on hats etc - to see how widely used it was.
I can not find it in various albums / books - such as - Gen Maczek, 1 Pulk Pencerny etc - regarding 1 Korpus (stationed in Scotland and UK).

Perhaps - any of You has the book "Ramie Pencerne 2 Korpusu" - perhaps in-there?

I have posted scans of the entire book in this thread:
    https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/polis...h-corps-26569/
Although there are quite a few berets with eagles illustrated there are none which look clear enough to identify which eagle variant is being worn. All of the original photos featured in this book are in the ADM audio-visual archive in Warsaw.
    I collect, therefore I am.
