I mostly collect British issues Army Book 64's - the Soldiers Service & Pay Book, but I always keep an eye out for examples issued to Polish Forces, below are the examples I have managed to get hold of, I have to admit to not being too well up on the individuals service, the books tend to be not very well filled out and handwritten Polish entries aren't the easiest to translate, but hopefully these are of some interest.

Edited to add names and numbers, I believe LASZCZ, KUCHARKOWSKA & KRYDOWSKI were all entitled to the Monte Cassino cross, not sure on any of the others.

Thank you for your reply, its very helpful, I know there is more to the Polish Army in the West than Cassino but it is good to be able to confirm these 4 were involved, plus I visited the Abbey, Cemetery and several of the memorials a couple of years ago. I think quite a few of the books will be to those who didn't manage to join up until right at the end of the War but they still did their bit. Would I be right in saying 5PAPLotn was the Anti-Aircraft unit?

    Thanks again

    Alistair

Thank you all again for your help, for some of them I have other odds and ends of paperwork which I will dig out and add, but it wont be for a couple of weeks as I have a holiday to look forward too, followed up by another at the start of August to Warsaw for the Uprising Anniversary. I wonder if any of these service Men and Women would have spent time here in Scotland - I think at least one did as I'm sure I have a card from a Scottish Polish social club that came with one of them.

    Thanks

    Alistair

Is the archive open for public access? as I'll be in Warsaw in August I may look to add it to my list of places to see.
