Thanks för the quick reply! Then I won't have to up the original bid then ;-) Pretty badges though.

Prettier still if we were to see original maker marked spinners and any hallmarks / proofs! Panasiuk produces faithful reproductions, and these are quite plentiful out there. You would not want to exceed a bid of say $40 per badge, or maybe $50 if you just had to have them.

    Cheers,
    Tony

Thanks for the advice - I bought the first one for about 50, but I couldn´t wait around too long for another copy to surface, so I am OK with the price.

I don't recall if 16th Dragoon Regiment badge has been pictured in this thread. Regardless, this series of good clear photos of this rarely seen badge are worth posting. I've also included photos of a genuine blank award document. Enjoy!

Recently acquired pictures of a genuine Armoured Cavalry Cadets School badge worth posting here. (Unfortunately, the badge was not acquired!) There are some deceptive copies of this rare badge out there, but this one's right as rain.

    Hello Everyone,

Somewhere earlier it was mentioned that badges, such as the common 3DSK and 5KDP, had to be purchased by the soldiers with entitlement to them and generally this was catered for by manufacturers producing them in different metal content. I was suddenly reminded that I had this badge, in plastic! I'm sure it was never intended to be a 'serious' contender for the real article, more likely, as we have seen with the aluminium and lead copies of fairly standard badges, someone in a workshop with an idea of a little 'side-line'. Anyway, its the only one I have seen and I thought it was worth sharing with you all.

    Best regards,
    Dragon

    Hi Dragon,

Thanks for sharing this. A very interesting badge for sure. I have seen a Tobruk badge and one or two others in plastic. They are mysterious badges with no extant production information that I am aware of.

Re the requirement to purchase badges, this was case in some instances. Once again, however, it’s an area not covered in the very limited existing literature.

    Regards,
    Tony

The Szkoła Podchorążych Lotnictwa (Aviation Cadet School) badge, a recent local find by a friend. The spinner is a cast copy of a pre-war Gustaw Sosnowski product. These crude cast spinners are found on the "mechanic's workshop" badges produced in the UK in 1940-41 for Polish airmen. I'm inclined to think this is a genuine badge as it compares favourably to the few examples I have photos of. Does anyone have an example they're willing to post, and also any information about the maker?

Btw, is the spinner supposed to get "stuck" 1/2 of the way?
