1 question guys,Im looking to buy a badge but ive been wondering,what do they mean by Britsh made?Pre-war replacements made for officers etc?Or replacements made in England post-ww2?

Hi Emil,

I just spotted this post of yours. Ade is correct in that “British made” commonly indicates an item produced in Great Britain for the Free Polish Forces circa 1940 to 1946 by makers such as Spink & Son, Kirkwood & Son, Chisholm & Mackay, and others. These badges are genuine authorized badges, and the ones that all of us collectors are perpetually on the hunt for.

However, this same terminology is used by a particular seller on ebay (that it appears you have purchased from) to describe reproduction badges made in the UK well after the end of WW2. This was a prolific maker of copies (both badges and decorations) named Bialkiewicz. So you must be very careful in determining exactly who the maker is. Please remember that being “British made” alone is not reason enough to warrant shelling out hard earned cash.

Welcome aboard dorava!

Very nice badge, and yes, a rare one for sure. Thank you for your contribution. The designer of the badge was 2nd Lt. Czeslaw Podleski. The badge was officially authorized for use by the 1st Heavy Artilery Regiment on November 10, 1943 and issued for production to the Scottish firm of John Dunbar – Alloa. Official badges were serial numbered, and are supposedly stamped in silver. Are here any hallmarks / proofs hidden under that backing plate?

Year ago – I bought a lot of Polish badges and medals after an old-cavalry soldier together with the badge that I have not yet really researched. I have been told it is from Baltic Countries.
Can You help with the identification / valuation etc
I am very curious about this one,

Dievs, Tēvija, pulks - God,...., regiment. Its Latvian origin by language and symbols. Unfortunately I don't know much about Latvian badges.

I recently bought this badge (about a 1 minute ago

) for $120 with shipping to Canada included.I know its not exile but i had no where else to post it.What do you guys think of it?Fair price?It comes with a blank screw back disk.

Congratulation it is an absolutely amazing find.
This badge is one of the most difficult to get.
Over years I have seen only 2 examples and have never managed to purchase one.
To add to T’s info below – the maker of this badge is the same as of the Artilery School from the T’s collection

Following on from T post.
I had mentioned Mr Mieczyslaw Bialkiewicz.
I had known him, sadly he died 4 years ago, and had a privilege to see his collection.
Just before his death he donated it to Czenstochowa Monastery in Poland. Mr Bialkiewicz was a remarkable person. Took part in the September 39 campaign, Tobruk battle and ended up in 4 Armoured Regiment Scorpion where he becomes a squadron commander. He earned VM 5 class during the MCasino and become a Capitan by the end of the war. He went to business and set up a manufacturing workshop as a goldsmith and subsequently developed a factory of plastic fashion accessories in West London - did make millions and still behaved as a “humble boy from Kielce, he was from Zagnansk”. For many years, he was a pilot and international aviation judge (in pair with Royals) and chair of a Polish Motor Club in UK.
But the biggest of all, He was a great community leader, supporting with energy- good ideas and cash a lot of initiatives. He really strengthen the association of of 4th Scorpion Regiment, was its Chairman for many year - organised the great marketing around Scorpions and printed an album Walczaces Skorpiony in 1974 (only 300 books – more difficult to get than the badge itself). He was and initiator of giving the name and banner to the Tank Regiment in Opole in Poland after the fall of communism.
He managed to collect a lot of excellent Polish WW2 artefacts and produced badges and Eagles (known to collectors as Bilakiewicz Eagle’s – I will post one )
Probably the best of his badge is the excellent badge of 7 Hussars (small tank / recon regiment of 2 Cor)– although made in 80ts – I understand that only 62 had been made. I am attaching the picture.
