A medal commemorating General Józef Haller’s visit to the United States in 1923. It was manufactured by Whitehead, Hoag and Co. Ltd. of Newark, New Jersey. This company, whose products are also widely collected in their own right, produced many of the Polish Sokół (falcons), patriotic fraternity and also Blue Army veteran items from the pre-independence years right up to WW2. What makes this example special is that it is complete with the rarely seen red/white pin suspension. It’s a rather fragile set up and is typically missing from these.
The medal is die stamped in brass and measures 33mm in diameter. The suspension is fragile, but remains fully intact. Very good overall condition for an item that is 91 years old.
Asking $25. Shipping costs extra.
