hungarian helmet from Warsaw uprising
This is one of my hungarian helmets from Warsaw, supposedly worn by AK members during 1944 uprising. As a german ally a contingent of hungarian troops was deployed near Warsaw to help german forces in eliminating the insurgents but hungarian soldiers did not take part in the hostility but helped their polish friends instead, mostly with food and equipment. Some of them even joined the rebels, fought and died in the battle against german units. I'm still looking for pictures showing hungarians in Warsaw and pics about hungarian helmets being worn by AK volunteers. Does anyone have a picture?
The helmet is a nice GY64 hungarian 35M. Original greenbrown paint, liner and strap. Has been ovepainted outside and on the inner skirt with greygreen which resembles me to german reissue paint.

Not sure about this one but it looks more like a hungarian helmet than german on this guy. Liner retaining rivets are on the sides imho and not in the front. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Nice story, but what evidence do you have that supports this helmet being worn in the Warsaw Uprising by AK member ?

I got it from a polish guy who said the helmet was found in Warsaw. Still in it's original condition except the greygreen overpaint. Not 100% evidence though, that's why I put "supposedly" in description. This relic GY66 helmet was also found in Warsaw, in the river Vistula. It has a grey overpaint too on the original hungarian greenbrown and there is a fragile layer of some green camo as well. In this case the possibility of being a period helmet from Warsaw is quite high.
I got puctures from a fellow collector about a hungarian helmet with hand painted insignia, I will share it if he agrees.

Closeups of the surface. Sorry, old pics..

another possible armia krajowa helmet
Just got this helmet from Warshaw with postwar black overpaint. Having removed the black that's what I discovered underneath. Nice hungarian MÁVAG64 helmet with good ammount of green paint and a polish decal (?) painted on the front. Interestingly the helmet has remnants of civil defense bluegrey paint too so it was a factory refurbishment.

Very Sporadically used were : British MK1 and MK2, chech 1930, and Hungarian wz 38.
