Golden FAD

I wish it was a factory produced "golden" FAD !

Here however is what I think is a quite interesting and early FAD.

Brass construction and with originally, a very light nickle silver plating which has now worn or leeched away, leaving this strange golden colour effect.

In addition, no "ears" to the box and the buckle is complete with an early Imperial type of pin and claw arrangement.

Any comments would be welcome.

Very nice example David....My example is still quite "silver" looking! I'll have to check to see if it has ears or not. Is this one a reg. size buckle or the smaller type (usually associated with the "no ears").

Do I read that you have a brass based FAD ? If so, would like to see it as up until now, all I have seen with this "Assmann type" design have been in nickle silver.

The buckle that I have shown is the standard 45mm.

Sorry David....I guess my post was misleading....in fact: my example is a nickel silver Assmann....I checked and it does have the ears on it, unlike your interesting example.

No matter Rob and as they say "hope springs eternal".

It is not the brass base to this FAD that particularly interests myself here and rather, the "Imperial" style toward a lack of ears to the box.

Not unique and I have at least (need to check) two other NSDAP related buckles, without ears to the respective box.
