A new outlook on Rad buckles

Gentleman.. I am stranded in South Carolina and have no reference materials..
Although.. It is kind of nice going to shops and pointing out makers like R.S.S. and J.D.
including B.&N. to dealers that are very unfortunate not to have any idea that their items
as old as they are, perhaps not so uncommon.. In my opinion R.S.S. is the most common Heer anywhere. I credit this you you fellow members.. There are exceptions of course.. I read a forum thread by Adrian Stevenson recently (I believe ) that made a great point..
Collect and learn about certain items and THEN branch out.. I think I will follow his advice
and start to concentrate on mainly Rad buckles.. Of course..As any collector..I will pounce on the obvious.... Bob Coleman and I recently had a brief two poster..
I will buy something in OK condition and when I have a better opportunity to purchase a better specimen, so be it..That's just my style.. Better to have a bad, Than none.. I guess.. This is my latest purchase... Much better than the previous buy.. Thanks Kirby..
In this post I hope to stay silent for awhile and do some more homework and hope to be a better benefit to the forum..G
P.S. This is remincent of Assman & Sohn.. The tab oversize underneath or protector..
Also, as David North kindly pointed out ..These buckles were used 9 months per member.. Or so, and this example may have been a repair sent back or field fixed..G

I did that Gwar, I used to collect all buckles then sold the lots to collect and specialise in Heer buckles, then bought all sorts again lol, I think every collector goes through phases. At one point I had over 200 Heer buckles

I know I do sometimes..I feel if I have two.. It is easier to let one go.. I do not want to "Hog" all the stuff that others may want.. I envy you.. 200 !! Wow !! But as buckle collectors you already know
that.. say.. Herman Aurich '37 '38 '39 etc; buckles even though made by the same maker.. Have subtle
differences ..Leather Vs. Pigskin.. Injection molding or die stamped and a host of other factors..
My friends don't get it... I think they feel sometimes I am "Looney".. But as collectors we know better and I feel like I am at home ..Here at the forum... Regards Ben... I will post again soon...G

Also remember, the more you buckles you handle the more your knowledge will grow, you cannot fault having buckles in the hand to learn from them

I'm still waiting to find my first RAD buckle! The design is one of my favorites.

Howdy guys, just joined the forum a few weeks ago. Just picked up this RAD buckle this week and wanted to share on this thread. On the backside view, does anyone know what the marking left of the '36' means?
