Looking online over the weekend I found a nice ammo pouch, and then noticed this buckle for a really good price...same seller. Looked thru the RAD threads to figure out this design as I had not see one before on a RAD.

Nice private purchase RAD
Ben
Nice buckle weller, These type of two piece buckles are commonly refered as private purchase, ( Walking out / parade ) ? buckles. Typically purchased by individuals
that wanted a non-issue buckle. Issued buckles had to be returned after service in the RaD was completed, and re-issued to a new member... I have one for comparison..
OLC 2 piece.... Take care weller...Gwar
Thanks Ben. Are Heer, Luft, RAD etc 2-piece like this always considered 'private purchase' buckles?
Nice Gwar, and thanks for the info...same maker
weller, not all private purchase buckles were marked by the maker.
That remains to be a certain mystery amongst collectors.
However, Many traits can be attributed or assumed by certain patterns..
The ears, eagle head, wings etc; etc;.. Some will always be pure speculation..
Here is another unknown RaD and a Luftwaffe for example... However, there are many
reasons why and I invite you to digest into the threads posted on this subject.. You
may find it interesting as I have...Gwar
Good stuff Gwar!
I could not have done any posting without the past threads By Ben Evans and David North and others on this forum.. I too am still in my infancy on certain subjects.. But, I aquire information and try to better myself as a collector and hopefully in the future I will gain enough knowledge to help others..
TC weller...Gwar
