The helmets contain 70-80 percent of the original paint/camo, and the liner sometimes marked or named. The ss has damage probaly of a bulldozer, the decal was painted over what explains the superb state. I had to scratch the paint off with a neadle.

Wonderful find! How many helmets came out of the ground? Unfortunately, unlike Eastern Europe - there probably isn't much clay to preserve the helmets without corrosion.

    Thanks for sharing!

I think that deep hole will preserve the helmets in nice condition too, seems to me like a bit chemical clean and the helmets will be in perfect condition. If some of them are for sale, I would buy them for sure!

Hey Martin good to meet one of the guys who dug the "big hole"

Guys this was a location that most of us can only dream about , it was a dump for helmets taken from German prisoners in Holland and has been excavated over a couple of years by the lucky few !! Hundreds and hundreds of Helmets, probably thousands have been recoverd in various conditions , lots of everything , Fallschirmjager, SS ,Heer, Luftwaffe

Hopefully Martin can tell us more about it and post more pictures ??
