Default First Winter relic for 2013

Hi guys, Dan the relic hound strikes again!
Actually all I am is a frustrated digger who would love to actually find this stuff but has to resort to internet purchases!

Anyhoo, what we have is a relic M40 with remains of a winter paint job and some shell splinter damage. There is residue of the original paint and if you look closely you can just see the Heer eagle poking through the corrosion! Its rusty and crusty but has that relic mojo that always draws me in!

Also, apologies for the poor photos - these were the sellers and I had to make the call based on these. As always, better ones will follow when it arrives.
    Cheers all, Dan

Lovely relic helmet - especially the exit rupture. I LOVE how that looks !
( M40's are my favourite of all German combat lids.........! )
    Regards,

    Steve.

Wow, I love the color of this one. I wonder what weapon made that exit hole. Would a bullet bend the metal like that?

Thanks guys! ....yeah Corey, the colour drew me in too.
This is the same bloke I bought the rough painted one from in my last thread - I'm a repeat customer now! ( or maybe that should be 'repeat offender' )
    Cheers, Dan

At first I thought it was just a mineral salts affected normal helmet ( these are seen sometimes that also exhibit a white look to them ) but then I saw the paint. If you zoom in you can just make out the eagle and I am hoping it is clearer when it arrives. The big question will be "is there a tricolour" ....... now THAT will be a rarity as we know double decal M40's are "almost non-existent".
