    Hi,
    I think de-militarising the Islands was the right thing to do.... but the British Government cocked it up by not telling the Germans for sure. If they had told them then there would have been no bombing and deaths. When flying over the Islands the germans would have seen lines of lorries down on the harbours and I guess assumed they were military trucks which is why they were attacked. The truth being they were farm trucks waiting in vain to export crops of tomatoes. I am sure if the Germans had been told the Occupation of the Islands would have gone ahead as it did, just without the bombing.
