German ww II helmet

Hi everyone,
I have a German helmet at home but I don't know anything from it.
Who can give me some information, all I know is that the inside is overpainted.
Is the outside original?

It's an M42 but to me the textured paint is a recent addition, the paint seems to go right to the edges of the liner pin holes!..

Hi, welcome to the forum, as Gunny states, this looks as though the paintwork is a relatively recent addition to this shell as that "rough texture" over paint would (had it been original) have been applied when the liner was in place, which this clearly was not. For me it is simply a "re-worked" semi-relic M42 shell. Leon.
