I reckon that crack was done while it was into ground..the rolled rim is still in place....
Thanks AMTG, i thought so too. Maybe a mattock whilst digging it out?
Having held this helmet in my hands and owned it for the last 7 mths i can say it is battle damage..i cant think of any machinery that would do such damage without even marking the shell...

Thanks Wayne!
Pleasure doing business with you. Such a great item
For what it's worth I've seen odd damage where the rim stays in place. Just depends where the projectile hits, how it is spinning etc. Crazy stuff can happen when you smash metal into each other at supersonic speed.
Another member, a digger, has said that frost can cause what looks like concussion or battle damage....
Whilst I agree that anything is possible where large peices of metal are flying about, that would be a one in a million shot to peel back the metal and leave the rolled rim in place....maybe there was a weak spot in the helmet there, but that's a really strange peice of battle damage!!! A rare find indeed
I stand to be corrected though!!!!
thats realy great to see my helmet found real place for it.Great Wayne.Always wellcome.Rgds
