help ID a relic find

Hi to all, this is my first post on this forum after lurking for a while, im amazed how much collective knowledge there is on this site.
can you please tell me a little more about the helmet i have, obviously i know its german but not much else, first a little backround,
i found the helmet in woods at the base of a tree on a hillside in Bosnia while serving there as part of the UN peace keeping effort in 1994,

Looks like an M40, nice find!

Yep it's an M40 lid in a relic state. Maker I would say is HKP but not sure of size. Definatly been hit by something though, shrapnel or a bullet. Strangle rust outline in the crown, maybe this helmet used to be a marker?
