    G'day Wayne, it makes all the sense Mate going by how devoid it is of actual dirt and the yellow stains which look as though its been in something. Cheers Phill.

    The yellow salts are indicative of it having had an oxalic bath already, don't do it again please.

    And whatever you do, DON'T go down the electrolysis path. Electrolysis will lift the rust off the shell and take all the paint (including decal) with it and seeing how corroded the shell is already I expect you'd end up with something resembling a colander once you'd finished. I think just enjoy this old girl for what she is.
