One side has the backward swastica and other the German Cross. Don't know how to make pics bigger? It's got a crack in it from concusion bomb or something but it's totaly cool. Very many paint jobs and is salty! WB

At best it is some type of Vet Art, at worst....post war art project Even then, without some provenance we will never really know.

In Bair book, they said it was a machine gunners insignia! Didn't say what service. But I've seen pis of old parades where the swastica was backward on flags. WB

Sometimes those cracks can also be from the helmet being buried in a cold climate and then the freezing and thawing out of the soil from winter onwards.

When you open the file on your PC, right click and pick Properties. What is the size?

From the one photo there is a lot going on. Lot's of paint colors (light green, White/tan) then throw in the Balken cross and backwards swaz and I still think it is a bit of Vet Art. Maybe painted and lost/discarded only to be dug up decades later?

What is the provenance on the helmet? Where was it found?
