    Default M1942 Stahlhelm Questions

    Hello again my friends,

I've acquired this M1942 helmet 2 weeks ago and started learning about the stahlhelm in general, but there are some questions I cannot find an answer.

    Here they are:

1 - Manufacturer Code / Helmet Size: These could not be located due to the heavy wear it acquired through all these years buried in the ground.

2 - Part Number or Lot Number ? : I was able to locate this number but cannot determine exacltly which number the first number is, or if it's a letter, D421 ? 0421 ? 9421?. (Think it's a "D")
    (I've seem some people saying Part#, some lot# ...).

4 - The air-vent: The air-vent indicates me it's an SE helmet, it's a ridged air-vent. Note the higher profile of the air-vent.

What do you think about these points ? Specially number 2 ?

    Thank you in advance !

    Thanks Real Steel !

Then I assume this "D" is from Dusseldorf ...

    Thanks !

No...it's just a sequence they used along with a 2, 3, or 4 digit #. Q made helmets did the same. T or D prefix with #s' after it. No explanation why, was just their inventory, lot# sequence. Has nothing to do with city of manufacture.

    Hello Guys !

By the way, do you think some cleaning is need for this M42 ? Or you think i can leave it the way it is without fear of more rust ?
