Hey guys so I’ve been looking at this relic helmet for a while and it looks like it was was a shiny apple green once? And whoever wore it looks like they might have been mighty unlucky. I just wanted to know do people fake relic helmets A lot and could this possibly be a fake. It looks all good to me but the liner band seeing how badly the helmet has aged I thought the liner band would have been rusted. But anyways all and any opinions are welcome thank you guys as always.!

Relic helmets are highly faked believe it or not. No decal versions are not (often) but anything with a decal are. Especially SS or double decals.

It is easy to do and sometime near impossible to authenticate as the decals are scrubbed so much there is little to compare to.

We would need to see very good close up photos of these decals as well as the name inside.

Thank you I asked the seller for clear close ups. I guess I should’ve known these would be faked a lot since complete helmets are too haha.

This just might be good. But need better photos

It is very important with relics to get them from reputable sources who will provide photos of the helmets in situ. This however is not common.

Oxalic acid, which is often used on relics, can give alter the colour - giving a turquoise / green hue to the paint.
It is worth considering this when trying to determine the original paint colour.
