Hi Mate,
Great looking relic, certainly puts things into perspective , when you handle a piece of kit, with that level of battle damage, very humbling experience i would imagine!!

I have a question.
Is it possible if your head in the helmet was, and the bullet came from after you and hit your head and fly out again, this is possible.
Or is it from close range shooting.
Hi Peter,
i'm no ballistics expert, i've shot off a few rounds or so with an
SA80 5.56, but i reckon the poor fella wearing this helmet, would been one lucky fella to walk away from this one, you do hear of freak incidents, where a round has penetrated a helmet bounced off a skull and out the other side, but looking at the exit hole i think this fella, went straight upto the big spirit in the sky !!
Cheers

Re: M40 Relic
At iwo jima there was an american soldier that couldn't go without coffee, so he put some coffeepackage in his helmet at both sides.
Het got shot in the head by a japanese soldier but the bullet bounced of the packages went inside the helmet untill it reached the other side.
There it hit again a few packages and bounced out of the helmet.
The american soldier had a cut right over the top of his head from ear to ear but did survive.
cheers,
