I have this one: My M42 with Decal rest.
And it was surely not overpainted, so just by comparison i would guess its the original paint?
But better wait for the more expirenced guys to tell you.
Greetings,
A.
For me looks good but i need more opinions also thanks for u reply Adravor
I'd guess the paint is original but that it has probably been heavily cleaned because with a helmet that has rusted through completely, you wouldn't be expecting shiny metal, but it is visible on the vent hole and where the shell has rusted through, I'd like to see some close ups of the paint to see if there is any evidence of abrasives used on the helmet.

any mention of a price on the helmet? I'd be curious to see what the seller is asking.
From my cell phone it looks ok. You would expect some scrubbing/cleaning to a relic
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

That's true.
Thanks for replys and right now i can't get better photos and about price hard to tell what will be fair price for this.
Hello Helldue,
Looks like a solid relic helmet that has been cleaned perhaps with Oxalic acid or something similar. Hard to tell whether its camo paint or just where the original surface has deteriorated.
As a piece of history its interesting but probably not worth too much as far as collectability is concerned. As a price guide here is a similar relic I purchased for $198 Australian for comparison.
My first relic helmet
