Need help with relic german helmet.

One person offered me this helmet, but my knowledge is near to 0 when it comes to helmets.
What information can You provide about this relic helmet?? I know they are much beloved by fakers also.

It looks to be an M40 helmet... and as M40's only sported one decal, you have to say its been messed about with and fake and aged decals added.
