Default New Battle Damaged Relic Lid

    Hello Guys.
I thought I would show my newest helmet. I traded for this a few days ago. The guy I traded said that it was dug somewhere in Russian but, he has no other info. It looks like it was battle damaged. I gave it 2 baths with soap and very light brush.
I was very surprised to find parts of the original decal. Also it looks like there is some white paint showing in areas. I found some numbers on the inside of the rim. It looks like it says 630 toward the back and then under the decal it looks like it says ET64. Again I am pretty new at collecting. I don't recall seeing the maker stamp and size separate from the series run number. Also is it normal to have a 3 digit number?
I was very happy to find the sticker pieces, the paint in spots, and any numbers at all. It was rusted over pretty bad.
To finish it up I put some beeswax on it.
The before pics were taken from the previous owner.
I will take some outdoor pics soon. Right now it's dark here and supposed to rain tomorrow.
    Thanks for the help guys.
    Jay

Nice relic Jay. Its a M40 single decal Heer helmet ( rolled rim and pressed vent hole ) and its nice when relics have a bit of paint and decal on them.
The lot number is OK at 3 digits ( but not often seen on M40's ) and correct to be in the position it is. ET is the maker & 64 is the shell size - one well known book puts it in the November 1940 - February 1941 time for it's production.

    Thanks for showing us!
    Dan
