I did indeed enjoy this project.

As far as I'm concerned, this helmet has been sympathetically restored to a better condition.

It won't be lashed into a corner/shelf of a outside garden shed, never to be seen again.

I showed this helmet to some friends when I first got it, they never really gave it a second glance.

After it's clean up, they didn't believe it was the same helmet.

    Just my two cents here.

I know people have lots of varying opinions when it comes to cleaning & restorations. Anytime you are dealing with a relic lid that has remains of original paint, IMO a soak in oxalic acid is the way to go. It can remove a good amount of rust while still leaving the paint intact. Just something to keep in mind if you ever attempt another relic project in the future.

Anyways, I will say that the finished product still looks very presentable though!

Enjoy it! It's an early M35 example. Just think of all the history that it might have witnessed.

    Best regards- Jarret

In the "long term" any human interaction with items like these becomes part of their history.
The Devil's Bank obviously cares about this helmet
and I applaud him for that.
