True, these scratches are visible different places, like below the decal ! Thats why I believe they are traces from cleaning.

On pic 2 it does not look so much to be post war painted. Still looks a bit like it in pic 1, but i guess it's just the light playing tricks

The helmet is most likely a reissued helmets, as the M35 was not originally painted with textured paint like the M42's in example. Someone have cleaned it to "liberate" the decals. No doubt about that. Not bad helmet.
