    can you explain splinters please I have not come across this word before, my mistake if it is not what I thought it was and I will have learned a bit more.

    Like it said in the wiki link I posted --- "A splinter is a fragment of a larger object... "

    Only, splinter is a term mostly used in cases involving wood... a "metal splinter" would be more commonly referred to as shrapnel. God... I love semantics..
