Agree that there is nothing to say this is (or was) a Polizei but it looks like a good solid relic M40. A good price also IMO, welcome to the forum - now you have the bug for helmets you can expect to be always skint!

Thanks mate. Yeah I got this from a German guy on ebay a few years ago, it was in with a bunch of old wartime nick nacks. He said either his dad or grandad, used it in the garden ! Maybe he grew Edelweiss in it, lol. All in I think it's a bargain meself,

so none the wiser, still i like it. looks very clean too..

Arrived, good solid condition for a relic, and dare i say the slightest remnant of a decal ( every little helps) it is just below one of the riveted holes not shown on pics above, i will try to get a decent shot, and what looks like original black paint.
