WH M35 DD a winter cleanup job

Hi there gents!

Bought this relic lid from Germany for just over EUR 25. It was found (ground dug) last year in Halberstadt (Sachsen_Anhalt) at the former barracks there (possibly Infanterieregiment 12).
It came slightly cleaned, but with a lot of rust and dirt (like concrete). So I read some of the forum threads how to do and decided to go for a long term cleaning first using a bath with a mild detergent and then oxalid acid.

Here's what it looked like when I received it. More to follow.

Well!

I've spent several hours trying to clean it up. I think the result is quite alright.

I've learned that oxalic acid is very effective, but smells a bit if you're using it indoor Always use gloves.

The color may faint a bit and don't apply it to the decals.

However, after the cleaning the helmet revealed some more details. Producer "NS 66", lotnr. "E163" and a "Beschaffungsamt" stamp of 1939 (hard to see on the picture). It seems to have been repainted in Black color. I decided to leave this as is.

Now applied with Renaissance Wax (after the pictures was taken) it rests in my Collection as a relic lid.
