    Default Arisaka T38 rifle

I have an Arisaka t38 rifle with minor surface rust. I was wondering what is the best way to remove this without removing the bluing? It is a Serial # 1,902,xxx the stock is a little beat up but all of the numbers match including the stock. the front sights are early without the "ears", the rear flip up sight is ranged out to 2400M. All of the markings are intact and I have the bayonet and a sheath, both in very good condition for $200.00. I am thinking that I got a steal because it is Mechanically in very good condition. Just want to remove some light surface rust. Any thoughts?

Try gun oil it worked for me for very light rust on guns.

Most common thing to use is 000 steel wool it is very fine and if used lightly will remove only the rust but dont go crazy with it you can buff down to bare metal I have a type 38 my self. I would not do this if it was a M1 or such...

I use an old toothbrush and oil that cleans them up pretty well, worked well on my SMLE.

Never ever use 000 steel wool. Use 0000 steel wool with oil and very light pressure.
