    I see feldgrun. In that case i can't see anything wrong in working on them. Also it sounds like you wont need any filler. Just primer, paint and liners.

    Even in Denmark we used WH helmets for firefighters and civil defense.

    There's a company in FRANCE were I bought my perfect replica decals...they sell paint as well.check them out there good people...the girl even helped me setup my account.. also carry repro liners and such

    It would be an idea to see them first before deciding to do a restore, you mention that there are black helmets, remember that some SS helmets were black, I'm not saying you have one of these but it would be safer than sorry rather than just paint them without checking first
