You can use "Vaseline" on it. This will help slow down the zinc pest corrosion.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks Ade. Wasn't expecting such a quick reply ( on the boards as well ) Just one more question. Can I initially scrub this with some form of cleaning solution which will remove some of the corrosion. I know the bronze finish is gone. Any sugestions?

Soap and water and a old soft toothbrush is all that is needed. Make sure it is dried well.

The "Vaseline" will help restore the appearance a little anyway.

    Cheers, Ade.

    It is my pleasure!

You can use two other products to try and slow down "Zink pest" (it cannot be cured though as the problem is at a molecular level) they are "WD40" and "Ren Wax".

    Cheers, Ade.
