well its finished there's some more original paint on the inside, Ive cleaned the liner ring as best i can as its a bit fragile & unfortunately one of the original split pins snapped trying to put it back in so Ive put in a replica replacement to help keep the liner ring in place so there you go another one done

Nick nice job! i think by reading this thread that you are the right person to ask this question . I am lurking a m42 that some person had the great idea of painting it black but not the inside but by the look of the inside the original green paint is intact. my question to you Nick is is it possible to take out the black paint without taking out the original paint under or there is no way it can be done .Thas for your answer.
here 2 pics of the one i would love to try

hiya mate you have two options on this the first one i would try is nail polish remover try it on the inside in small patches the other would be paint stripper again try on the inside first & as the black paint dosent look to be to thick don't leave the stripper on it for to long as soon as the stripper starts taking affect remove it with any sort of PLASTIC scrapper never metal as you may damage the original paint.

hope this helps & works out for you & of course don't forget to show us the results good luck mate

oh & also be extremely careful around where there maybe any decal remains

use paint stripper ,as the old paint is much harder and won t be effected by the stripper as fast as a "newer"paint
you can rince it of with some warm water and remove it with a stronger sponge let the stripper do the work and don t scratch it to much with a scrapper
this al is on your own risk!!!
