I have an Imperial German belt and buckle. It is in fair shape, but over the years the leather have started to dried out. Is there anything that I could apply to the leather to help with the drying out, with-out messing the leather up( I do not want it to look new)?

Have you tried Saddle Soap? I've been using it on my WW2 WH leather forever...Depending on the deterioration you may wish to consider Mink Oil.

The leading museums now recommend you do nothing.

I would strongly advise against Mink Oil.

If you do wish to proceed, I have in the past used "Connolys Hide Food". I have found no long term ill effects with this.

    Cheers, Ade.
