Re: Luftwaffe Helmet restoration !
Leave it alone, it's fine the way it is!

Re: Luftwaffe Helmet restoration !
My sentiments exactly. Leave it as is.

Re: Luftwaffe Helmet restoration !
I'm sure with a magnifying headseat and a scalpel you COULD flake off all the bits of yellow enamel - thats the forensic way to do it - but you may probably go mad in the process as it's HUGE amount of work.
Thats how I "deflaked" a Luftschutz hand siren and it ONLY took about a week .... :-)

Re: Luftwaffe Helmet restoration !
Well, it's going to have yellow dots on the value to me and the market ain't hight, I'll rather try to remove a few stains.. maybe not from the decal though.

Re: Luftwaffe Helmet restoration !
And I paid $270, so I don't think it's too bad
I like it, but I want to remove a little bit atleast

Re: Luftwaffe Helmet restoration !
I remember this one, I thought it might be bad. Shame on me.
It could turn out nice. Q tips, acetone, lots of time good luck and keep us posted.

That's a good idea, less risky than chemicals.
I agree with the 'leave it as it is' comments usually guys, but there is not much to lose here since it's already been 95% stripped of the yellow. Just my opinion.

Re: Luftwaffe Helmet restoration !
I'd be tempted to leave it, there's enough of the original paint, and the bits of yellow also show its history post war.
You got a nice helmet there with a bit of history to it!!

Re: Luftwaffe Helmet restoration !
Thank you guys, yeah I think I'll take the scapel and try it out, anything I can do with the inside? The same there? =P
