new items. How to clean the rust??

Article about: I would not want to remove the original finish on these relics with anything abrasive ! A spray of 'WD40' or '3in1' oil, and then a rub with a cloth is all I'd give them.

    Hi Giorgos!

Light blue paint is indeed indicative of a practice grenade. It's a modern greek EM-03, currently used by the military, manufactured by Elviemek S.A.

About your first question, I would just give the items a good rubbing with a clean cloth and leave them as they are. Since they are rusted, that's what they are, but that's just me.

    Regards, Giorgos

    Hi!

Use oxalic acid, it will make rust soft, and then neutralize it with baking soda. I use sutch method for cleaning ground dug helmets.

Nice items! Oxalic accid makes miracles but is also very toxic!

I would just take a gentle brush to them , I would never clean an item like that, as i would want the age to it.

As the last gun show i went to, they item like that that looked new, and the prices on them was not very good.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

Use penetrating oil, like the WD40 spray. That light oil will remove the dirt and lose rust and in the same time will stop further rusting processes. Spray, let it work for some time and then wipe well. Also after you spray the WD40, you can use a bronze brush, steel wool or something similar to clean better.

Have use Precreator decorroder with good success on bare metal. Or soak in household 3in1 oil.
