    Hi,
I acquired a p-38 holster that has been over oiled to the point that some of the
stitching had to be replaced, and the holster feels and SMELLS oily.It is a dark brown, soft shell late war holster with only the P-38 stamping and a small "a".
Can anything be done to salvage this holster from being over oiled ?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi,
Still no suggestions ? I have tried covering it with baking soda and letting it absorb the oil.but this absorbed very little.Doesn't anyone
have a thought on this holster's condition.I would like to keep my Spreewerke p-38 in it,but am reluctant to do it.
    Thanks,
    Peter

I am afraid the damage has now been done and cannot be put right.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi Ade
Thanks for your response.I felt that this would be the case.A friend of mine suggested that I bury the holster in unscented cat litter for a week or two. I will try it-after all what have I got to lose? Too bad that someone over oiled a nice late war brown soft shell p-38 holster.

    I agree with Ade.
Can you post some pics to see it though?

There is a special gasoline (petrol) for lleather

    something like those products

    LEDER-FEIN - Lederwaschmittel, Lederreinigung | Willkommen | Welcome

It will bring some life to the item, but as everyone else said, damage is done
