    Default preserving decals...

    Hi all,
Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but does anyone have any advice on preserving decals on original helmets? I have a nice gold eagle decal that is about 80% intact and I wondered if it would be worth applying some sort of clear lacquer spray over the top (carefully masking the area of the shield off of course). What's the consensus on this idea?
I couldn't find any similar questions in the forum which may be a hint that it is an idiotic proposition! But go easy on me fellas cos I'm new to this game
If there is any risk of devaluing the item I am happy to leave it well alone. I just love the decal's look and want to ensure it doesn't deteriorate any further.

    Thank's in advance,
    Sykes27f

Personally, I'd leave it alone. They are quite durable
actually, there should be no problem.

I really think this is a 100% clear case of leaving it alone. Decals are durable and you risk damaging and devaluing your helmet.

In agreement with Doug and Steve, leave it alone.

A photo or two of your helmet would be a nice addition to your thread.

In the ancient days, the old-timers would paint clear shellac over them, but over time, this proved to do more damage than actual Good. I would not touch it. Keep it out of direct sun and dust, if possible and be careful when handling the helmet to not touch the decal. It's about the best you can hope for.

This is the decal in question. However, I am going to go with the voice(s) of experience here and leave it well alone.

No need to touch it (literally), if the helmet is stored well the decal will not deteriorate any further. Leon.
