Quick dip in water and rubbed on towel. Couple batches and i've done all my bullets i've ever found
Not bad but you'll have to get rid of the sand now, with the very fine chips you can reuse it quite a few times before changing, or you can wash them, something that you cant really do with sand without causing a real mess, oh by the way I hope thats not one of the good towels or you'll be in big trouble
Most excellent thread.
I had only ever thought about going the electrolysis route.
. Vinegar will eat steel. At least the carbon steel knives, I have used it on.
I used vinegar to stain some customized carbon steel knives. I made the mistake of honing the knife to the finest edge I could give it before exposing the edge to vinegar and 24 hours of immersion not only stained the blade as I wanted, it also ate the very thin edge on the knife leaving a (very) jagged edge. I was a bit surprised, but simply honed the knife again. One learns and does not repeat that particular mistake again.

Steve, he's calling you a nerd, i'd have him for that
Out on the town, I was once provoked by a hooligan complete with unibrow.
With a disarming smile, I called him a nice troglodyte.
He evidently thought it a compliment, because he backed down.
Im still waiting to get jumped by him on a friday evening at the pub, as he is sure to have consulted the aforementioned dick-shun-ary in the meantime.
Great result Mate
I like the look of those, cleaned but still looking aged not super shiney like some clean routes achieve !

Nice Vegar Those German 20mm are just great ! Such a shame they made them out of plated steel......if they were brass they'd be as good as new
