I got this from a relative a few years ago who had found it in her house during cleaning. And since they knew I was interested in military stuff, they called me. They thought it was from a relative's military service.

The firearm is a "Kammerlader"/Chamber loader from 1860, produced by Kongsberg Weapon factory.

Since I have a lot of spare time now, I decided to take on the task of restoring it. It is really rusty, and couple use a good going over, I don't think I will be trying to get it in a firing state, but rather so that it looks good over the fireplace.

I unfortunately don't have that many "Before" pictures, but here is one I took a couple of months back:

    Day 2:

After a long struggle, I finally got 4 screws out of the bottom part. My hands were filled with blood, rust, WD40, gunoil and sweat in the end, but it was worth it.

    Day 3:

    Bath time:

It was finally bath time. I made an improvised container, not the most solid thing, but it worked:

I used oxalic acid before anyone asks.
