    I use electrolyt to 'de-rost' stuff, I put a big zink block into 1/3 mix custic soda acid and run 12v through item and zink block, reverse natures process sort of speak...

    this is the results after method on a 60 year old barn key... I pasted the key in same pic for easier compareince...
