Looks original enough, probably ground dug and not in very good condition, with the pebbled back could be made by Assmann

Sorry, however in my opinion this buckle is a fake. Never before have I seen an original die stamped aluminium "DLV" which has an integral bridge catch. They may exist and if so, I stand corrected. What I am sure about though is the type of buckle shown, regularly appears on some of the auction sites and is often described as "Diplomatic". A cast fake in my opinion where an attempt to hide the origins has been made by extreme distressing.

    Regards,

I agree with David, it's a repro. Overstamp on swas and soft details on wings.

    Take care,

Wow David, if fake then it had me bang to rights, I do understand why the expense and time to deceive a buckle like this for very little return, in this state the buckle is not worth that much? Strange!
